Dear Parents and carers
It was great to welcome everyone back this week after the summer holidays. It was particularly good to see students turned out so smartly in full dress code. Our new S1 have made an excellent start and are already starting to find their way around without the help of their S6 guides. I’m sure they will be very tired this weekend after adapting to their new routines. Returning students seem to have done so with renewed vigour and a real sense of purpose, creating a great buzz around the school.
I am delighted to report that we also have a number of new staff this term. They have made a great start to their careers at Forrester and are really enjoying getting to know their new classes.
Miss Craig – Mod Studies/Geography
Miss Masters – Biology
Mr McAlister – Mod Languages
Mr Narwan – Business Education
Miss Bruce – Music
Mrs Hirsch – Support for Learning
Mr Shankland – Maths
Mr Watson – CDT
We also welcome back Mrs Bruce and Mrs McLaren from maternity leave.
Today our S6 were introduced to the Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) programme, a nationally recognised programme empowering young people to safely challenge behaviours and to make a positive difference to the community. I am delighted to report that thirty eight students have volunteered to complete ten weeks of training and then to deliver MVP to younger students.
As things continue to get up-and-running, please watch the website for news of study support, clubs and other activities, and encourage your young people to get involved.
Next week we look forward to an Author Workshop for S1, Positive Destination Talks for S5 and a Careers Fair, all taking place on Wednesday. The following week is also a busy one with our first Parent Council Meeting taking place on Tuesday 28th August from 7:00pm in the meeting room. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
