The Business Education department at Forrester is a thriving department that prides itself on positive pupil relationships and an excellent work ethos.
The department is made up of 3.5 FTE staff. Each member of staff has their own classroom with 20 pupil PCs and a Smartboard.
The department offers 3 Subjects in the Senior School and many pupils take 2 if not all 3 of these through their time at Forrester.

S1-3 (Broad General Education)
In S1-2 pupils will attend Business Education once a week where they will cover a range of topics including International Trade, Product Development, Marketing and using Microsoft Software. These courses provide a broad introduction to the Business and Admin courses offered in S3. Pupils will make use of PCs and Microsoft Teams in each lesson. Homework will be issued via Teams.
In S3 pupils will be able to select Business as a Social Subject where they will gain an insight into how a business is run, the external factors that impact on a business and the role of each department. Pupils will work towards a unit of their N4 Scottish Award.
Admin is offered as a Technologies subject, this is a highly valuable course that will benefit young people in any career choice. They will develop skills in various Microsoft Software’s including Databases, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Word Processing. This course is 100% IT based. Pupils will also work towards a level 4 typing award.
The Business Education department offer Money Matters as an Enrichment course. This course covers personal finance topics as well as understanding how to manage the finance of a business. The course is an excellent introduction to Accounting which is offered in the department in S4.

Each year S5 pupils are given the opportunity to engage in the Career Ready programme which is a two year programme where pupils are matched with a mentor in the world of work who help to show them various career opportunities. They will also take part in a 4 week paid work experience internship. Click below for more information.
Almost 800,000 people are employed in business and admin occupations in Scotland. All employers need business admin. You could work anywhere from a digital tech firm to a hospital, or even the government.
