Head Teacher Update 9/3/22 (National Qualifications)

Dear Parents and Students

I am writing with an important update for senior-phase students undertaking national qualifications.

Assessment Window 3

Our final block of formal assessments will take place between Monday 21st March and Friday 1st April. Teachers will alert students to the timings of individual subject assessments, and an overview calendar can be found at the link below.

SQA Final Exams

The final exams for SQA National Qualifications will take place between April 26th and June 1st. Mr Ennis wrote to students and parents yesterday to let you know about our plans for exam leave. Today, I would like to draw your attention to the study guidance just released by the SQA.

You can access the revision support documents directly from the National Qualification subject pages of the SQA website now at www.sqa.org.uk/nqsubjects.

The following two documents, which contain links for each subject at National 5 and Higher, may be more accessible.

National 5: https://forresterhighschool.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/NATIONAL-5-STUDY-GUIDE-LINKS-SQA.pdf

Higher: https://forresterhighschool.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/HIGHER-STUDY-GUIDE-LINKS-SQA.pdf

Past papers and marking schemes, which can be used in conjunction with this advice, are also available on SQA’s ushare platform, linked below.

A reminder that support materials are also available on e-Sgoil and West OS.

West OS: https://forresterhighschool.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/West-OS-study-support.pdf

In addition, Mr MacPhie is planning Study Lates, Immersion Study Days and an Easter Study Programme to support revision. I would encourage all students to sign-up to these free programmes.

Meanwhile, please continue to work with your teachers who will help you understand the expectation for each subject.

Thanks and best wishes

Stephen Rafferty
