Microsoft Teams, Two-way Video Functionality

Dear Parent

You will know from reading my recent update that we are about to switch on the two-way video functionality within Microsoft Teams. Although student cameras will be enabled within teams, only teachers will be able to initiate Teams Meetings or Teams Calls. This will allow staff to work face-to-face with students remotely, for example, for instrumental music instruction, one-to-one work in support for learning, counselling, careers support, and mentoring within the Young Edinburgh Talent programme. Teachers will also have the option to utilise two-way video with classes, which may prove useful, should we move to blended learning.

Please find attached two important documents. The first is the Digital Learning Quick Start Guide (https://wp.me/a1gBif-2mR) which provides advice on the use of digital technologies, along with some links to support materials. The second document is the Responsible Use Policy (https://wp.me/a1gBif-2mS) which sets out the protocols for engaging safely in learning through digital technologies. Your consent for the use of these technologies in your child’s learning will be assumed, on receipt of this communication. This consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting the school.

Thanks and best wishes
