Dear parents and students
Planned Industrial Action
Forrester High School will be closed to students and staff on Thursday 24th of November due to planned industrial action. Teachers and staff who are not affected by the industrial action will be working from home. Where possible, colleagues working from home will work within the framework of their normal school timetable. Those teachers will contact classes and set work through Microsoft Teams. Following their normal school timetable, students are advised to check their Microsoft Teams pages so that they can access any work being set.
The school will also support identified students, with a pastoral check-in phone call, on the day of the industrial action. For students who are allocated school meals, a school meal for Thursday 24th can be picked up from the canteen at the end of the school day on Wednesday 23rd of November.
Last Week’s Learning and Teaching Visit
The visiting team from the City of Edinburgh were blown away by the welcome they received from the Forrester Community last week. Students and staff were able to showcase some of the great work happening in the school and, as I knew they would, our students showed their very best side in class and around the school. Thank you everyone for your support.
Staffing Issues
Unfortunately, we continue to experience difficulties with staffing in some areas of the school. We are working hard to recruit replacements in the affected subjects – Business Education, Computing, Craft Design and Technologies, Art, Maths and English. We are aware that this can be disruptive to learning and we thank you for your patience and support. Thankfully, replacements are due to arrive shortly for Business Education, Computing, and English.
Thank you for you continuing to support the school.
Best wishes
Stephen Rafferty
